My philosophy has always been … Don’t expect others to do something you are not willing to do yourself so without further ado …
A] Personal Details
Kent, England. UK
1] Your Name/s?
2] Your 2 Leggeds Names?
Mummy & Just Dad
3] What type of K9 are you? [Breed]
I am an Australian Sheep Dog [Kelpie] crossed with a Staffordhsire.
4] How Old Are You?
I turned 14 on the 30th November, so that makes me just over 14 years.
5] Do you run your household?
YES! My two leggeds are there to answer my every beck and call, and that is about 95% honest!
6] Do you live inside or outside the house?
Live outside? No, spent years doing that, now l have home comforts.
7] Where about in the world do you live?
We live in Kent, England.
B] Exercise/Play Time/Adventuring
8] How often do you take your 2 leggeds for a walk?
Well during winter it is usually 2 walks a day for about 45 minutes on average, with the occasional outing some weeks. During the summer months, it might be two longer walks because of the lighter evening and earlier mornings, and then probably an extra walk once a week.
9] Do you vary the walks or trek the same route every day?
No, l insist on a different walk every time. Mummy is very well trained in this department, l am still working on Dad!
10] Do your 2 leggeds allow you to talk to other K9’s on your walks or do they huff and puff behind you and urge you to hurry along?
Yes – it is not something l specifically insist upon, l get along with most dogs, but some cause me to be very wary of them.
11] Are you allowed to do ‘stuff’ on your walks freely?
Not as much as l would like to admittedly, but l am allowed lots of sniff time, looking at squirels and occasionally if l get a sneaksy roll in, l might ”’just”’ get some poop on my coat! BUT, they don’t like this, as they say it makes me smell and l think to myself – ‘Oh right and you two think you smell of roses?’
12] Have your 2 leggeds ever embarrassed you? If so how?
All the time, drop this, stop that, come back here – this part of their training takes considerable time!
13] Do your 2 leggeds expect you to fetch the ball/toy every time during soft/hard play?
They can expect as much as they want, it is down to my personal choice whether l agree or not. I am much easier on Mummy than l am Dad. So l tend to wind him up more. he gets to see my ‘Seriously?’ Stare more than Mummy! it’s funny, you know?
* Do you have favourite toys and if so what are they?
These are my toys in their toy box.
14] Are you loved every day?
Yes each and every day – have trained them well.
Yes Mummy is a real tickling genius!! Dad, well he is ok, but he is not Mummy.
Yes, each and every day many times l am cuddled.
Mummy is like another K9 she is really good at hard and soft play time, as to Dad , mm, what’s the next question?
Made to feel special?
Oh yes very much so, by both of my 2 leggeds.
15] Do your 2 leggeds take you away on holidays with them?
We haven’t holidayed recently, but a few years ago we all went to Boscastle in Cornwall, it was totally pawsome!
16] Do you get to pick where you go if they do?
No, Mummy says it is always a surprise when we go out. But l do know that they must always think of me, because some places don’t allow K9rs.
17] Are you given treats? Too few or just right? What are your favourites?
Yes l am given treats, in some ways l can be a little spoiled. I have an iced peanut butter filled Dong after my morning walk, a treat filled Odin after my evening walk, a dentastix broken in 2 for after each walk, two oat biscuits when they have dinner, and before bed l have a Schmacko.
I think it is too few, they think it is too many , but l have mastered the art of playing Dad and Mummy off against each other, it was a 2 legged three year old last year who taught me this trick, if Dad says no, l ask Mummy and vice versa!!
18] Are you fed a nutritional diet?
Yes l am fed Naturo Adult Dog pouches, complete moist meal, and l always have water and dried kibble available.
19] Is your food moist or dry or both or even the raw meat diet?
Moist, but dried kibble always available. Tried the BARF diet once, didn’t like it, but love it when the local butcher gives me scraps if he sees me on my walks!!
20] Do you enjoy it or is it boring?
Sometimes l get a bit bored, but out of 100%, it is 95% acceptable.
21] Do you eat it every day, or sometimes refuse to?
Well Mummy and Dad say l am being awkward of late, l play them up … truth is l am not always that hungry – l am getting older and whilst still walking a lot, l can no longer walk for hours like l used to, and so don’t eat as routinely as l once did.
22] Are you allowed to sample your 2 leggeds food?
Allowed?? I insist it is my absolute divine right!
23] Do you eat your food when you are expected to, or when you wish to?
When l wish to.
D] Your Personal K9 Stuff
24] Do you have a favourite piece of 2 legged clothing and if so, do they know?
Ocassionally l might run off with a sock of Dads’ or one of Mummy’s slippers, but l have a teddy bear who l sometimes sleep with.
25] Go on be a Devil – tell us what it is ….?
Currently nothing … unless you include Mummy’s little Dalmation dog toy?
26] Do you deliberately play up at times, just to annoy or worry the 2 leggeds?
Yes, l have to, as do all K9rs, we have to keep our 2 leggeds on their toes!!
27] Do you have a bed?
Yes l have a truly lovely bed, in fact l liked it so much l insisted they bought me 2, one for the loungeroom and one in Dad’s study!
28] If so, do you sleep in your bed, or their bed, or the couch or all three and more?
Never have slept on any of the beds, don’t really like the sensation, used to sleep on the couches, but since my beds arrived – oh totally pawsome!
29] How much alone time or ‘just you’ time do you have?
I have quite a bit of me time, but equally as much l just love being around my 2 leggeds.
30] Do your 2 leggeds make you dress up?
* For which holiday or festivity is this applicable?
* Pose for pictures?
No way, the best l allow them to get away with is my walking harness! They tried making me wear a raincoat once but it made me look like BatDog!!! I insisted dad disposed of that clickitty!
31] Do you actually enjoy it or simply tolerate it because it appears to please them?
I do things for me and them, but when it comes to wearing silly capes, well they have learned to count me out. Occasionally l let Dad take some clickitty’s of me, but if l am not in the mood, nope not happening!
32] Do you have a friendly vet?
Yes l have a lovely practice filled with nice vets, but that doesn’t mean l have to enjoy visiting them – usually it is for my anal glands and that really is most unpleasant!
33] What would be your pawfect day?
A totally lovely walk on a beautifully warm sunny day, perhaps stopping in the local pub for a drink, a bit more walking, some treats – well you know, a pawfect day is a pawsome adventure!
In spite of everything … the manipulations and the training you must subject them to – are they happy that you are there to mentor for them?
Yes very, very much so, l would be lost without them both and l know the same applies to them of me, but sadly one day l will have to return to my planet, but that is NOT today, so l make the best of my time with them, before l go and join my other pack members. Live for today, tomorrow is tomorrow!
Finally, in your own words tell us something about both you and your 2 leggeds that the questions haven’t touched on or asked about – something unique …
My farts smell like dead things!! I love eating cat poop, rolling in fox scat and can be a real irksome k9r when l want to be.
